Rahul Gandhi to review poll debacle with general secretaries today

Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi is expected to meet AICC general secretaries on Wednesday to review his party's dismal performance in the recently concluded Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Jharkhand, the results for which were announced yesterday.

The Congress, despite hectic canvassing by its top brass and star campaigners, could win just 12 seats in Jammu and Kashmir. The party was largely wiped out in Jharkhand where it managed to get only 6 seats.

As per reports, today's meeting is expected to be attended by all general secretaries and the AICC in-charge of the two states besides Maharashtra and Haryana, which also saw Congress' crushing defeat after several years in power.

Gandhi had been holding interactions with young and old party leaders from various states in groups for the past few months to take their feedback on how to strengthen the party from the grass root and make a turnaround in Congress' fortunes.
