Six political parties of the regrouped Janata Pariwar on Monday threatened to not allow the Parliament to function, even as cadres of the parties held a protest at the Jantar Mantar, criticizing the government for failing to fulfill its promises.

"Our main issues are that the government promised to bring back black money but failed to do so. The government also promised to provide employment to the unemployed, among other matters. They also raised communal issues. Thus, on all these issues, the Janata Dal Pariwar is protesting at the Jantar Mantar under Mulayam Singh's leadership," said Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal.

Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Yadav repeatedly mocked PM Modi's catch phrase "Acche Din (good times)" and, referencing the row over religious conversions allegedly by groups linked to the ruling BJP's ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, alleged, "The Modi government is trying to divide the nation on religion."

Nitish Kumar replayed PM Modi's campaign speech to demonstrate what he called double-speak by him and the BJP.

"Now (PM) says he has no idea how much black money there is," Mr Kumar said.

Lalu also slammed the government on the black money issue.

"We are waiting for black money to come back. We can wait a few more months. If you can't manage to bring it back by plane, we can arrange camels," he quipped.
