Promising free water for all, 50 per cent cut in power tariff and steps for providing 24-hour electricity, AAP today sought to woo voters ahead of the Delhi assembly polls even as it downplayed Congress claiming that the real contest was between the party and the BJP.

Addressing a 'Delhi Dialogue' event in Sangam Vihar in South Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal said within five years of forming the government, water supply line of Delhi Jal Board will be laid across the city and pipeline connections will be provided to the 14 lakh households that do not currently have piped water supply.

"Our party's policy is air and water - the two important elements for survival - should be not charged or taxed upon... Our party's policy is to provide free water to all.

"Every household would get 20,000 litre of free water a month. In next five years, we will ensure piped water to all households in the city," Kejriwal said. The party chose Sangam Vihar as its venue as the area faces acute water crisis.
