Senior students of a corporation school here went on a rampage today, damaging furniture and breaking fire extinguishers, to demand action against the headmistress for not heeding to their plea to transfer a teacher who reportedly addressed a student by his caste name.

Police rushed to the spot on being informed after which the students ran out of the school.

Pleas by their personnel and education department officials to students of the school in Siddapudur area to come for talks went unheeded, they said.

School authorities took stock of the situation, cancelled the ongoing half-yearly exams and closed the institution indefinitely.
