Centre asks all states, UTs to ensure Uber cab services are stopped

The Centre has asked all states and union territories to ensure that Uber taxi services are stopped, Home Minister Rajnath Singh tells Rajya Sabha.

Singh told the Upper House today that all such web-based cab booking services should be banned.

He also informed the House that the cab involved in the incident was owned by the accused driver. The car seized from the driver, who was arrested from Mathura, has been brought to Delhi and a forensic investigation is underway, he added.

The transport department will connect the GPS data of all such cabs to its server.
