12 prisoners escape while being taken to court, police kill five

Over 17 prisoners tried to escaped from a police van while they were being taken to court from the Chaibasa jail in Jharkhand. Five prisoners were killed when the police opened fire to stop the escape, but 12 managed to flee.

The police have launched a manhunt to arrest the absconding prisoners.
