Ibolya Ryan, killed in Abu Dhabi, loved teaching

Relatives and former associates of a former Colorado woman stabbed to death in an Abu Dhabi shopping mall this week said they were shocked to learn of her brutal demise, describing her as a warm and caring person who loved being an educator.

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates said Thursday that they had arrested a woman in connection with the stabbing of the teacher, Ibolya Ryan, 47 years old. Ms. Ryan had previously lived in Colorado, where she met her ex-husband, Paul, and settled in Denver, a relative said.
