Collegium meets at PM's residence to finalise new CBI chief

Just in: First meeting held at PM Modi's residence to select new CBI chief, 43 people shortlisted, say sources.
The meeting is between a collegium of the government, the Opposition and the Chief Justice of India and focussed on the selection of the new director of the CBI. Ranjit Sinha retired as CBI chief today.
The collegium comprised the Prime Minister, Chief Justice of India HL Dattu and the leader of the largest Opposition party or Congress. In this case, Mallikarjun Kharge, who leads the Congress in the Lok Sabha, will represent the opposition.
