Minister Rajnath Singh moves BJP brass over his son 'rumours'
August 27, 2014  14:07
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, upset with a ministerial colleague for spreading what Singh says are malicious and false stories about his son, has raised the matter with the highest echelons of BJP and RSS.

This episode indicates divisions at the high table of the Modi government. Senior BJP leaders say this is a reflection of "a power struggle".

For a few weeks now, talk that the home minister's son, Pankaj Singh, was recently ticked off by the prime minister for unsavory political conduct has swirled around Delhi's political circles, allegations that have raised hackles of Singh who sees it as the handiwork of a party rival, an influential BJP leader.

"If someone raises questions about my family's integrity and honour, I'm not going to take it lying down. God will punish those who are playing this dirty game," Singh is believed to have told close aides in the party.
