At 39 degree C, Delhi sizzles

The national capital today witnessed the hottest day of August in the last 12 years as the mercury breached the 39 degree Celsius mark.

The maximum temperature was recorded at 39.1 degree Celsius at the Safdarjung observatory. It was five degrees above the season's average making it the hottest August since 2002.

At Palam, the mercury touched at 40.7 degree Celsius, making it the hottest place in the city. Apart from Palam, Ridge, Ayanagar, and Najafgarh also recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius.
