One trooper killed, another injured in J&K's Kupwara district

One army trooper was killed and another wounded in two counter infiltration operations in north Kashmir's Kupwara district, according to a defence spokesman. The spokesman in a statement said, "Due to a spurt in infiltration, the army stepped up counter-infiltration operations. One such operation continuing in Kunda Nar area of Keran sector resulted in contact and exchange of fire between army and terrorists on Saturday evening. One army soldier was injured and succumbed to his injuries." In another counter-infiltration operation in Kalarus area of the same district,  the  spokesman said contact was established with militants at Gurdazi village this morning. One soldier was injured and is being evacuated to base hospital in Srinagar, the spokesman added.
