Two more accused arrested in connection with Meerut gang rape

Two accused wanted in connection with the alleged gang-rape and religious conversion of a 20-year-old woman in Meerut were arrested today, the police said.
One of the accused Naveen was arrested from Freeda village in Kharkhauda area here on a tip-off, while the other accused Shanu surrendered in a court, a police spokesman said. Both were presented before a court which remanded them to 14-day judicial custody, he said.
With these arrests, the total number of arrests in the case has reached ten, he added. In a complaint, the woman's father had alleged that his daughter was abducted on July 23 and taken to a madrassa in Kharkhauda, where she was raped by some of the accused.
They also forcefully made her sign some papers related to religious conversion, he had alleged.
