TDP, TMC MPs battle it out in Parliament over a room

MPs belonging to Telugu Desam Party and Trinamool Congress broke into an argument in Parliament today after the TDP MPs refused to vacate a room allotted to the Mamata Banerjee-led party, reports India Today.

Sources in Parliament said the TMC MPs removed the TDP sign outside Room Number 5. The spat began as the TDP MPs tried to put up their signboard again and refused to vacate.

The office, currently in TDP's possession, was allotted to the Trinamool Congress after its thumping victory in the last Lok Sabha elections.

"This is uncultured behaviour of TMC," TDP MP YS Chowdary said. The party said its leaders were bullied by the numerically-superior TMC MPs. TDP has reported the matter to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu and will raise it with the Lok Sabha Speaker.

"The Speaker's office directed us to take the room. We have 46 MPs but we don't have a place to sit. TDP has been allotted a room on the third floor," TMC MP Sudip Bandopadhyay said.
