AIADMK's M Thambidurai to be deputy speaker in Lok Sabha?

AIADMK's M Thambidurai has filed nomination for the post of the deputy speaker of Lok Sabha.

Election for the post of Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker will take place tomorrow. As per a notification issued by the Lok Sabha today, notices of motions for the election of Deputy Speaker can be given before noon on Tuesday.

Thambidurai is the likely choice of NDA for the post. The move to give the post to AIADMK is seen as a gesture towards Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalitha and also a bid to split the opposition ranks, according to media reports.

Thambidurai is the leader of AIADMK in the House. He was deputy speaker from 1985 to 1989.
