7 jawans injured in attack on BSF convoy in Kashmir

Mukhtar Ahmad reports from Srinagar:  Seven paramilitary Border Security Force jawans including an officer were injured in a militant ambush in south Kashmir's Pampore town late last evening.

A senior BSF officer said militants opened fire at a passing vehicle carrying troopers returning from Pahalgam after performing yatra duty. "Seven BSF troopers including an assistant commandant were injured in the attack,' the officer said.

The attack come hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit Jammu and Kashmir. He is scheduled to visit Ladakh to inaugurate two power projects and lay the foundation stone of the Leh-Srinagar transmission line.
