National Herald case: Sonia, Rahul won't have to appear in court till Aug 13

After a turbulent day in Parliament, huge relief for Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. The Delhi High Court has stayed the summons in the National Herald case for which they had to appear in court tomorrow. The Congress had demanded a stay and the HC today ruled in favour of the Gandhis, which means they do not have to appear in court till August 13.

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday had adjourned the hearing till today on the petitions filed by Sonia and Rahul seeking quashing of the trial court summons to them in connection with the case.

A Delhi court had ordered process on a private criminal complaint filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy against Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others in acquiring the assets of a company that ran the now-defunct National Herald newspaper.

The complaint had alleged various criminal offences in acquiring the assets of Associated Journals Limited by Young Indian, a newly floated company, and sought a probe in this regard.
