So, Congress leader Narayan Rane will remain in the party. Rane announced today that after discussions with Rahul Gandhi, MPCC president Manikrao Thakre and Maharashtra CM Prithiviraj Chavan, he would not quit the Congress. He also said he will continue as Maharashtra Heavy Industries Minister and try his best so that the party wins the Assembly polls.

Rane, a minister in the Maharashtra Cabinet, handed in his resignation from the cabinet to the Chief Minister last week. Speculation was rife that that was planning to quit the party and announce his own party.
