Unfazed by BJP's frequent attacks on the Prime Minister and his office, Congress today said the PMO under Manmohan Singh was the "cleanest and most spotless since Independence".

Party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi also dubbed the PMO during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's time as the "most infamous ever", and alleged BJP was suffering from selective amnesia. Asked about Narendra Modi's remarks against Farooq Abdullah that his late father Sheikh Abdullah had damaged secularism the most, the Congress leader said the track record of the BJP is that of practising communalism for 60-70 years and that his party counts Abdullah as part of secular forces.

Singhvi also hit out at Modi for his "ye dil mange more" remarks, and said the people of India see the largeheartedness of a person before fulfilling any such wish and Modi lags far behind as far as this quality is concerned.

He also dismissed BJP candidate Smriti Irani's attack on Priyanka Gandhi as a "small subtext of larger frustration" in the BJP camp.
