Pakistan violates ceasefire; heavy shelling at LoC in Poonch

Rediff.com's Mukhtar Ahmad reports: Ending weeks-long lull, Pakistan on Friday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.

As per preliminary reports, heavy shelling started in Kerni sector from across the border in Pakistan in the morning.

Sources said small arms and automatic weapons were used in the shelling.

"Our own troops are retaliating using similar calibre weapons," the spokesman added.
