The Congress has complained to the Election Commission against Narendra Modi's grand roadshow in Varanasi today, coinciding with the sixth round of voting for the national election.

The party has called for an FIR or First Information Report against the roadshow, calling it illegal.

In its complaint, the Congress said visuals of Modi's roadshow were aired by TV channels, even in parts of the country that are voting today, which they said was a violation of the election code.

"117 seats are going to polls but the sanctity of these polls have been violated," union minister Anand Sharma said.

"Why was the Election Commission not alert to this and why didn't it instruct the media? We want an FIR and notice against the BJP leaders who were present."-- NDTV
