PM's farewell speech to Planning Commission on April 30

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh will bid farewell to the Planning Commission on April 30 with a visit to the Yojana Bhavan in Parliament Street. Dr Montek Singh Ahluwalia, who is the deputy chairman of the Planning Commission and a close friend of Dr Singh, will receive the Prime Minister and usher him to the Conference Hall. The PM will preside over his last meeting with the Planning  Commission.

Informed sources also confirm that the Prime Minister may ask the Deputy Chairman and Members of the Planning Commission to stay on till the new government is formed. While there is no formal resignation required  of the members of the Planning Commission, their tenure is co-terminus with the Prime Minister's term.
