Major jolt to BJP as former MP joins SP

Former BJP MP Ashok Pradhan from Gautam Budh Nagar has joined the Samajwadi Party. In a meeting between Pradhan and the party brass in Lucknow on Monday, formalities for inducting the former BJP national secretary into the party fold were cleared, the TOI had reported.

Pradhan is considered to have a significant vote bank in the region because he was a four-time BJP MP from the Khurja parliamentary constituency, which was reserved for scheduled castes before delimitation in 2008.
