Khurshid wants fixed tenure for US envoy
April 07, 2014  17:34
Our sources in Delhi tell us that Foreign minister Salman Khurshid who is campaigning in Uttar Pradesh is believed to have called up the Prime Minister's Office as well as Finance Minister P Chidambaram, who is campaigning in Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, to approve a file which will give two years fixed tenure for S Jaishankar, India's ambasador in the US.

The department of expenditure is objecting to this proposal as there should be a Union Cabinet decision to ensure fixed tenure to IFS officials posted
outside India.  Insiders in the foreign office like senior diplomats smell a rat.
