BJP manifesto can't be telecast when voting is on: EC sources

The Bharatiya Janata Party's plans to release its manifesto on Monday, the first day of polling, has run into legal trouble with the Election Commission.

Sources in the EC tell CNN-IBN: A party can put out its manifesto anytime. However, it can't be telecast or publicised while the voting is on.

Campaigning is prohibited for 48 hours before voting ends. Since voting begins in the northeast on Monday, campaigning has to end at 5 pm on Saturday.

The BJP manifesto has been delayed as BJP's PM hopeful has demanded changes.
