KS Rao, the Union Minister of Textiles, has submitted his resignation to the Prime Minister, protesting over the Centre not releasing adequate funds for the Seemandhra region, after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. Rao is likely to join the BJP on Saturday, but the decision will depend on whether he gets a Lok Sabha ticket. He has also been hobnobbing with the Telugu Desam.

Last year, HRD Minister MM Pallam Raju, Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy, MoS Railways and son of late Rayalaseema stalwart K Vijayabhaskar Reddy, resigned over Seemandhra. Other Ministers K Sambasiva Rao (Textiles), K Chiranjeevi (Tourism), D Purandeswari (MoS Commerce) and Killi Kruparani (MoS IT and Communications) also resigned.
