Party loyalty prevails over family ties for Maneka Gandhi. A day after BJP's Sultanpur candidate Varun Gandhi's statement praising Rahul Gandhi's work at the ground level in Amethi, his mother, Maneka Gandhi, a senior party leader has issued a statement today saying, what Varun said on Amethi was not right. "There is no ground work in Amethi. I asked Varun not to comment on anything he has not seen himself," she said. 

Yesterday, moments after Sonia Gandhi filed her nomination papers from Rae Bareilli, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi  said he was happy to receive the appreciation. He said "Varun sahi kah rahe hain" (What Varun is saying is right).

However, later Varun clarified that his comment should not be seen as an endorsement of any party or candidate.
