First arrest in Muzaffarnagar riots: BJP MLA held, taken to undisclosed location

BJP MLA Suresh Rana has been arrested in the Muzaffarnagar riots case. He is the first politician to be arrested for making hate speeches.

Arrest warrants have also been issued against a BSP MP and MLA, besides several politicians and senior community leaders for allegedly inciting violence through inflammatory speeches in Muzaffarnagar.

The arrest warrants have been issued against 16 politicians and community leaders including BSP MP Qadir Rana, BJP MLAs Sangeet Som and Bhartendu Singh, BSP MLAs Noor Saleem and Maulana Jameel, Congress leader Saeeduzaman and BKU chief Naresh Tikait, police said.
