Priyanka takes over as Sonia's unofficial assistant

Priyanka Gandhi's new dictat is that no personal assistant from the AICC should accompany Sonia Gandhi to the US where she is undergoing treatment. The personal assistant is supposed to coordinate AICC matters and liaise with senior Congress leaders to know the gist of the Parliament proceedings.

To sort out the day-to-day administrative issues, Motilal Vohra is authorised to issue cheques -- staff salaries and keep everyday accounts.

Every evening Priyanka Gandhi calls up Ambika Soni or Ahmed Patel to get their feedback and passes on the information to her mother.

Sonia Gandhi is expected to return by end of September.
