Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Thursday issued a warning that rioters in Muzaffarnagar will be crushed with an iron hand. He also reminded that he had ordered firing on the kar sevaks exactly 23 years ago on October 30, 1990, in Ayodhya to uphold the Constitution.

"Some people are instigating riots. I must remind them that they cannot challenge the might of the government. The government is very powerful. I must also tell rioters that I know how to crush such activities," Mulayam said while recalling how as chief minister of Uttar Pradesh in 1990 he ordered firing at kar sevaks who had assembled in Ayodhya on the call of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and the BJP for bulldozing Babri mosque and construction of Ram temple.
