Shinde won't visit blast-hit Patna today either

Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is facing flak because he chose to attend a music launch in Mumbai even after the serial blasts in Patna.

And now, he just seems be heading for further trouble, as he is unlikely to visit Patna today as announced earlier due to non-availability of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Instead of him, the Union Home Secretary will be visiting the city today.

Shinde had on Monday said that he would visit Patna today to asses the situation there.

"I will review the situation in Patna tomorrow. It is premature to say anything about the blast now as investigation is still going on," he said.

The Congress and the government, though, continue to defend Shinde.

"Sushil Kumar Shinde has a life beyond Patna. Yes, what happened in Patna is very sad. Is someone trying to dilute attention or has done this to gain political mileage out of it, we are not in the position to say it as investigations are on," External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said.
