Peace at our borders should remain foundation of ties: PM in China

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh addresses the media in Beijing after signing the border agreement with his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang. "I'm touched by the warm welcome and generous hospitality in China. Prosperity and progress would be a major factor Asian resurgence and global prosperity."

"Peace at our borders should remain the foundation of our relationship. As large neighbours relationship with other nations should not become a concern. The agreement on border defence cooperation will ensure peace, stability on our borders," he said

The PM said he appreciated China's cooperation in the development of Nalanda University. "We have just agreed to hold talks to full promise of our relationship and friendship. We have agreed that peace at the border should be the foundation of our relationship, We decided to institutionalise greater exchanges between the armed forces of India and China. We are taking forward the suggestion made by premier Li in Delhi of a Chinese industrial park," he said.

Bringing up the visa issue he said he expected China's cooperation in the matter.
