Just in: Locals burn down portions of Asaram Bapu's ashram in Valsad, Gujarat. Farmers in Valsad have also demanded that the land they had donated to the preacher be returned after cases were filed against him.

Yesterday, the spiritual leader, currently in jail in Gujarat, lost a case to stop the media from reporting on his alleged sexual assault of a school girl. Asaram's lawyer argued in the Supreme Court to stop the media from carrying what he described as speculative reports about the 75-year-old preacher, his family, and his many ashrams or retreats.
