The food ministry has called for a review meeting with onion growing states on October 25. This comes after onion prices soared to the year's high of Rs 90 per kg in many parts of Delhi on Monday, amid indications that it would touch Rs 100 before coming down to more normal levels around Diwali.

The government also said that states should act against farmers who were hoarding onions as there was no reason for the prices to shoot up.
