LIVE! Convicted Lalu disqualified from Lok Sabha

Just in: Lalu Prasad Yadav has been disqualified from the Lok Sabha. Yesterday, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar issued disqualification notices to the RJD chief and JD(U)'s Jagdish Sharma. The two MPs were sent the disqualification notice following their conviction in the 17-year-old Bihar fodder scam case by a Ranchi court.

Yesterday, Congress member of the Rajya Sabha Rashid Masood became the first MP MP to lose his seat after the Supreme Court struck down a provision in the electoral law that protected a convicted lawmaker from disqualification on the ground of pendency of appeal in higher courts.
