October 18, 2013  14:38
Central Vigilance Commissioner R Sri Kumar will demit office in January 2014.

The Union government sent out letters to secretaries of the government of India to suggest suitable names for the post, reports our New Delhi correspondent.

The committee headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the Leader of Opposition will clear the name for the new CVC.

Sri Kumar is an Indian Police Service Officer, but the UPA government is not keen to nominate an IPS officer to the post.

They want that the new CVC should be selected from the general category.

Insiders say that the Bharatiya Janata Party wants to postpone the selection process till the end of the Lok Sabha polls. They say the new government should find a suitable candidate for the post.
