4 fishermen injured after Lankan fishermen attack them

Four fishermen of a coastal village in Nagapattinam district were injured when they were attacked allegedly by Sri Lankan fishermen off Kodiakarai coast today.

Officials said the fishermen from Vellapallam village had ventured out to sea on October 10 in two fishing boats.As they were fishing just off Kodiakarai coast, the Lankan fishermen arrived there in four boats and attacked them with sickles and pelted stones.

They also snatched the fish catch and other valuables and fled the scene.
