Live! Tandoor murder: SC commutes death sentence to life term

The Supreme Court has commuted the death sentence to a life term of a former Congress leader who was found guilty of murdering his wife and trying to burn the body in a tandoor in 1995, a sensational crime that came to be known as the 'tandoor murder'.

The former Youth Congress leader Sushil Sharma had challenged his conviction and death sentence for the murder of his wife Naina Sahani, a crime that the Delhi High Court had described as an "act of extreme depravity that shook the conscience of society.
