1 picked up in woman's rape-murder case, Gogoi promises SIT

One more person was today picked up on suspicion of being involved in the alleged rape and killing of a woman in Lakhimpur in Assam even as Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said an SIT will enquire into the incident.

The State Women's Commission has also taken up the case suo motu and was in close contact with the police. "We have decided to form an SIT to enquire into the incident. We are aware of the atrocities against women in Assam and are trying to check them," Gogoi said.
