Prof Rao continues straight talk, targets ISRO's 'superstition'

Bharat Ratna-designate Professor C N R Rao terms ISRO's long-time practice of seeking divine blessings in Tirupathi before its space missions an act of superstition he does not believe in.   

"Yes", he replied when a reporter asked if he thought the space agency placing a miniature replica of the satellite at the feet of Lord Balaji in the temple town of Tirupathi in Andhra Pradesh, before its launch from the Sriharikota spaceport, amounts to superstition.   

"Human beings are scared. They think that if they do offerings, their work will will be all right. What to do," the eminent scientist said.
