The friend of the 18-year-old telephone operator who was allegedly gang-raped at the Shakti Mills compound in Mumbai on July 31 deposed before the court today.

"He supported the prosecution's case," special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said.

The friend of the survivor had been tied and was beaten up by the five accused before they raped the girl.

Police have arrested Mohammed Ashfaq Sheikh, Mohamed Kasim Hafiz Sheikh alias Kasim Bangali, Salim Ansari, Vijay Jadhav and a minor (whose trial is separated) in this case.

Vijay Jadhav, Kasim Bengali, Salim Ansari and Siraj Rehman are the accused in the second incident -- gangrape of photojournalist -- that took place in the same premises in August.
