Gauhati HC order that declared CBI illegal is invalid: SC

The Supreme Court has stayed Gauhati high court order which termed the CBI unconstitutional and illegal. The next hearing is on December 6. "The Gauhati high court order that declared CBI as illegal is invalid," it said.

The top court has also issued notices to the home ministry and the CBI seeking their response on the high court order.

The Centre had moved the Supreme Court this morning and sought a stay on it contending that the verdict will adversely impact thousands of criminal cases pending across the country.
