Befriending Meiyappan led to rise in Vindoo's fortunes

Even as Gurunath Meiyappan, the principal of Chennai Super Kings has sought more time to appear before the Mumbai Crime Branch, the police are likely to call Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf for questioning in the ongoing betting racket. Meanwhile, the interrogation of Vindoo Dara Singh has revealed that the actor did earn money on betting only after he became friends with Mr. Meiyappan.

 

Mr. Singh, also known in betting circles as Jack, is a habitual bookie and had placed bets on last five Indian Premier League matches and suffered heavy losses in all five editions of IPL. "He became friends with Meiyappan two years ago and according to his confession made to us, he had earned more than Rs. 17 lakh in this IPL for the first time,' said an investigating officer.

 

The officers are probing the possible reasons behind actor's sudden success in betting only after his "introduction with the CSK boss. "We have not drawn any conclusions. But we are investigating reasons behind his sudden success in betting,' an officer said.
