HC wants parole for 1993 Mumbai blast convict
May 22, 2013  18:01
The Bombay High Court today asked the Maharashtra government to consider parole for a 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast case convict who is presently serving life sentence.

Mohammad Mushtaq Moosa Tarani, whose death penalty was recently reduced to life imprisonment by the Supreme Court, approached the High Court seeking to be released on parole next month to enable him to attend his daughter's wedding.

Additional public prosecutor Anuradha Mane today opposed the petition and said Tarani has not gone through the proper channel to seek parole. A parole application has to be made before the relevant deputy commissioner of police who then calls for a report.
