SC: Cricket is a gentleman's game, keep it so
May 21, 2013  15:15
To encapsulate, the Supreme Court dismissed a petition seeking a stay on the remaining four matches of the IPL, plagued by the spot-fixing scandal. It has asked India's cricket board -- BCCI -- to ensure that cricket, which is a gentleman's game, remains one. The SC has asked the BCCI to take action against those found guilty of spot-fixing.

The court said spot-fixing happens as a result of the lackadaisical approach of the BCCI. "The credibility of the game should be maintained. The BCCI should adopt a rational and scientific approach," said the court.

It has asked the BCCI to submit a report within two weeks.

The BCCI has told the court that it has formed anti-graft teams to accompany the players.
