Border talks with China upgraded

Yesterday, India and China decided to raise the level of discussions on proposals for a new border defence cooperation pact to that of special representatives (SR) after delegation-level talks led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Premier Li Keqiang. In making it an agenda for SR-level talks, New Delhi has done a course-correction. Initially, the foreign office was not as keen on a new pact in addition to the agreements of 1993 and 2005.
