More from our Delhi correspondent: Insiders say that Union Minister Kapil Sibal has been very active in the law ministry briefings -- his first task was to enquire about Gopal Krishna, a joint secretary from the West Bengal IAS cadre.
According to sources, these are the various questions he has asked during the briefings:
- Why was he brought for three months from the sports authority?
- What is the close connection between Krishna and (former law minister) Ashwini Kumar?
- Why did the prime minister agree to shift Krishna as a special consideration for three months when he knew that his tenure with the Centre was ending on May 14, 2013.?
- Why did Dr SIngh sign the file in February 2013? Should an IAS officer be brought for three months in the law ministry?
Buzz is that Krishna was considered to be close to Ashwani Kumar during their tenure at the Union ministry of commerce together.
Sources informed that Krishna was wanting to 'run away' from the law ministry. The IAS officer felt the spotlight was on him once the law minister was sacked. The officer was more upset when Sibal took charge on Monday.
