A rift between the Congress and the government?

Our Delhi correspondent says: There seems to be a serious rift between the Congress and the government, especially after Dr Manmohan Singh agreed to run for a third consecutive term.

Sources say that to cut him short the Congress has begun to pick and choose confidants of Dr Singh and started exposing them.

The first installment was the removals of Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal Bansal and law Minister Ashwani Kumar.

Political circles in New Delhi are full of speculation about two more Union ministers, who also happen to be close confidants of the prime minister are in the line of fire.
