Cabinet reshuffle likely soon, Sonia calls Congress meeting

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has called a meeting of top Congress leaders to discuss the political situation in the wake of the resignations of Law Minister Ashwani Kumar and Railway Minister P K Bansal.

However, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will not attend the meeting, said sources, adding that Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel will brief Dr Singh after the meeting.

Reports also indicated that a cabinet reshuffle is likely next week.

Union Telecom Minister Kabil Sabil has been entrusted additional charge of the law ministry till the reshuffle, while Transport Minister C P Joshi has been given the charge of the railway ministry.
