First seat to be declared is Pramod Madhvaraj of the Congress who won the Udupi seat in the Karnataka Assembly elections. He beat the BJP by 23,000 votes. This is a significant victory, since the Udupi constituency was the BJP bastion in 2008.

The exit polls appear to be right and the Congress has taken a major lead in the Karnataka Assembly Elections. The BJP has slipped to the third position and is trailing to the JD(S). During the 2008 elections the JD(S) had won just 28 seats, this time it's leading in 45 seats.
