May 07, 2013  09:41
Even as Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal continued to be under scanner in connection with the alleged bribery scandal involving his nephew Vijay Singla, CBI sources have said that the agency was looking into the possibility of involvement of Railway Ministry officials in the scam.

CBI sources said Bansal's senior personal staff could be called in for questioning over the next several days.

The agency will try to find out answers to some questions related to the posting of suspended Railway Board member (staff) Mahesh Kumar.

A leading English daily reported on Tuesday that the CBI is questioning Singla and his associates to find out "the authority" which would have promoted Kumar.

Singla is reported to have spoken to an officer in Bansal's office over phone during the period when Kumar, a senior railway official, was allegedly discussing paying a bribe of Rs 10 crore to change his discipline from Member (staff) to Member (Electrical) and allow him to continue with additional charge of GM (West).
